Free Pregnancy Tests
Even if you have been using contraceptive methods during sex, it is still possible for you to become pregnant. A missed period is the most common indicator; however, experiencing a change in your menstrual cycle could be caused by other issues. Changes in hormones, weight gain or loss, and stress can all cause a late period. Are you experiencing any other symptoms of pregnancy? If so, you should take a pregnancy test.
Early signs you may be pregnant
- A missed period is the most common sign of pregnancy
- Frequent urination
- Swollen and sore breast
- Nausea and vomiting
- Dizziness
- Aversion to certain smells or foods
If you are experiencing some or all of these other symptoms, you need to take a pregnancy test at Women’s Resource Medical Center. We offer free and confidential pregnancy testing.
When should I take a pregnancy test?
Ideally, you should take a pregnancy test one week after your missed period. A pregnancy test determines whether you are pregnant by detecting the presence of hCG, the hormone associated with pregnancy. During your appointment, you will be asked to give a urine sample, and then one of our staff members will administer the test. Waiting until at least a week after your missed period allows your body to produce enough hCG to be detected by the test.
If a test is taken too early, you may get negative results even though you are pregnant. When you come in for your appointment, our staff will make sure this is the right time for you to take your pregnancy test. If it is, you will have your result during your appointment.
What Should I Do If My Test Comes Back Positive?
If your test is positive, we offer several services designed to help you decide what to do. Your next step will be to have a free ultrasound. An ultrasound provides more information about your pregnancy, like how far along you are, location, and viability. Whether you’re considering carrying to term or terminating the pregnancy, this information is vital.
Plus, we offer consultations on your options, such as abortion, adoption, and parenting, so that you can make a fully-informed choice.
